In June 1996 I purchased my first Cavalier, a blenheim, called Sacha (Bowfort High Stakes of Scotlass). I started to show at local events some 4 months later, when she was 6 months old. Sacha & I had many wonderful times in the showring in those early days, where we made many new friends and visited a variety of different places. Sacha was a lovely girl to live with and brought much joy to our family.
In the fullness of time Sacha gave me 3 lovely litters and I kept a puppy (or two) to show from each one. It was Sacha who became the foundation of the Scotlass Cavaliers and we have many memories of the
time we spent together and often I can see her face in the latest puppy or her antics in one playing in the garden.
I try, with the help of my husband John, to breed healthy, well tempered, out-going Cavalier King Charles Spaniels using the facilities for heart & eye testing supplied by the breed clubs. All my puppies are now litter screened (eyes) by a Canine Opthalmogist, health checked & vaccinated by my vet and microchipped before leaving my home. Both parents are eye certificated and heart checked and where possible all adults are annually heart tested by a Canine Cardiologist. We have now started to MRI scan our dogs for any signs of syringiomyelia (SM). The findings of this disease are currently still in the research stage.
